Symptoms of Overtraining from Resistance Exercise (Weight Training)
- Plateau followed by decrease of strength gains
- Sleep disturbances
- Decrease in lean body mass (when not dieting)
- Decreased appetite
- A cold that just won’t go away
- Persistent flu-like symptoms
- Loss of interest in the training program
- Mood changes
- Excessive muscle soreness
Common Markers of Aerobic Endurance Overtraining
- Decreased performance
- Earlier onset of fatigue
- Decreased maximal oxygen uptake
- General discomfort or uneasiness
- Loss of interest or enthusiam in training
- Disturbed mood states
- Increased muscle soreness
- Altered resting heart rate
- Increased sub maximal exercise heart rate
