As a society, we’re always searching for the ‘shorter’, ‘quicker’, ‘more efficient’, and ‘most direct.’ This holds true in the realm of heath and fitness too. We’ve gone from an hour a day to six-minute workouts. The questions then, are these: How much is enough and what should I do?
In determining how much exercise you should perform, perhaps it best to first determine how much time you have or what you’re willing to do. Rarely do we say, “I have a couple of extra hours each day…maybe I should fill some of that time with exercise.” Usually it’s more like, “I know I need to exercise, but I just can’t find the time.”
While exercise is important, the truth of the matter is that it competes with other priorities in our lives. The key is finding the right balance. Once you determine how much time you can devote to exercise, use this guide to build your workout. However you decide to add time for fitness, strive for consistency. Creating a healthier life means creating healthy habits.
The other half of the healthy living equation is always nutrition. Unfortunately, we are inundated with “advice” from so many sources on what to eat, when to eat, how to cook, and when to starve ourselves.
The simplest way I can describe a healthy diet is to make it clean. We don’t need experts to tell us vegetables are better for us than desserts. It doesn’t take a dietitian to determine that lean meats are better than fatty meats. Clean up your diet and you’ll feel the difference.
Clean Eating
Consistent Exercise
When you’re barraged with information from the internet, television, or your best buddy who’s a “gym rat,” keep it simple and focus on CECE…clean eating and consistent exercise.
Yours in health,
