If you have a hard time dealing with things beyond your control, then raising kids will bring you to your knees. Whether it’s them having to go to the bathroom at the most inopportune time, or forgetting to bring the one thing that they needed for this particular trip or event, or failing to plan for what was seemingly obvious, shaping these young beings into productive members of society can be quite the challenge. So, the thing that I have to often remind myself of is that they are not perfect…at any age. In fact, if they were, they wouldn’t need us. Our job, our duty, our obligation is to raise them, which means there will be times (a lot of times) when things are beyond our control. The question is, what type of example are we setting when things don’t go our way?
