Things are constantly changing in the life of a child. Yet one of the most important things in their lives is the consistency of their parents. When everything within and around them is changing, when friends come and go, when fads and styles come and go, when things that are popular come and go, when their feelings come and go…the parents remain. We remain, and we (hopefully) stay constant and consistent. This means there’s really no time to dwell on the past as we rear our children. We have to get over things and move on. The example you set in how quickly you get over setbacks, roadblocks, or those times when your child seems to bring out the worst in you will serve as an example to them.
